Rufus Luttig, a South African outfitter, is bringing the adventures of his home country to Montana.
Luttig has a passion both for the outdoors and for helping orphans, and has combined those passions into a ministry called Hunt S.A.
It provides opportunities to hunt 35 species of animals in South Africa.
But the core of Hunt S.A. is to ignite hearts of Montanans for the needs of Africa.
Luttig explained, "I see hardships, I see AIDS, people dying, orphans, and that is why I made this connection to come to America to find people. Not so much (for) money, but rather to get people over to South Africa to see what is happening and to get connected."
Luttig will share hunting stories, videos, and his mission of helping orphans during a free event at First Alliance Church in Great Falls on Thursday, January 31, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The address is 908 47th Street South; call 452-8647 for more information.
Rufus will be also be in Townsend on February 2nd at 5:30 at the Word Of Life Church on Broadway, and in Helena on February 3 at 10 a.m. at the Mount Helena Community Church located at 1710 National Avenue.
On his website, Luttig writes, "It took a severe drought in 1993 to break me down and let me surrender my life to God. Being a rancher and a hunter all my life, God's love was so encompassing that He knew a drought would be the tool to break into my heart. It took me a number of years to understand that my love for the great outdoors and hunting was God given and not my idea! God, in his awesome creativity, put together in HuntSA my two passions - my love for Him and my love for the great outdoors."
