THE FAMOUS 'we're going to need a bigger boat' line from Steven Spielberg's Jaws film may have gone through the head of one Fowey fisherman after he hooked a monster fish.
James Coggan, a member of Fowey Tightliners' Fishing Club, smashed his club record for ling when he hooked a huge 27lb beast.
He was fishing from the Steve Ellis skippered Jammy Rascal when he underwent a 15-minute battle to land the fish using a rhubarb and custard sidewinder lure, fished on 20lb class tackle.
James said: "I had given up all hope of catching a fish when suddenly the rod was nearly wrenched from my grasp.
"After a 15-minute struggle on a light rod I landed Fowey Tightliners' biggest fish of the year so far. I'm hoping this might win me a prize.
"My colleague lost an even bigger one which was a shame, but then there's anglers and there's danglers."
Weighing and verification took place outside the Royal British Legion, the headquarters of Fowey Tightliners.
The club always welcome new members and anyone interested in joining should contact the Royal British Legion in Fowey on 01726 832386.
